Since Thailand is located in the tropical region, poisonous animals are abundant. Cases suffered from animal toxins are not infrequent.
Bitten victims become paralyzed and unable to breathe.
Bitten victims bleed easily and may have acute renal failure.

In severe cases, there are swelling of the face and neck, breathing difficulty, shock, acute renal failure and acute pulmonary edema
Usually not fatal. Acute renal failure, hemolysis and myonecrosis may be seen in severe cases.
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, paralysis, hypotension, arrhythmias.

Queen Saovabha Memorial Institute (QSMI) has recently launched a new medical service “Animal Toxin Clinic”.
This clinic is an outpatient clinic focusing on treating patients suffered from poisonous animals (except snake bite). We have experienced doctors, nurses and medical personnel. The service hours are 8:30 –16:30 on Monday through Friday and 8:30 –12:00 on Saturday and National holidays.
We also give consultation by phone to patients, medical personnel and people who are interested in this field.

Our clinic is not designed to treat seriously ill patients or ones who need to be admitted in hospital. In this respect snakebite cases are referred to the hospital.
